Toy Story

Daily Prompt: What was your favorite plaything as a child? Do you see any connection between your life now, and your favorite childhood toy?

My favorite plaything(s) as a child were my cabbage patch dolls, and a whiteboard with dry erase markers. I would play teacher and school and mommy for hours. I can remember practicing my letters and later cursive writing on that board.

How ironic. I stay home with my kids. And I write on the side. My whiteboard now is a calendar with never ending dentist appointments, meetings and family stuff. My minions actually eat, talk and have needs.

The connection didn’t occur to me before, but it is very interesting that the thing we like to do the most as children, finds a thread into adulthood. Perhaps that is the goal in life, to be able to do for a living that which we love. And I do love what I do.

  8. When I was little, I used to be scared of Cabbage Patch dolls. No reason why. I just did. Also, it’s neat how you adopted what you enjoyed doing as a kid into your life later on. Great post!
